On Tuesday, November the 6. 2018. the second Logistics Forum Switzerland took place in the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne. More than 120 participants gathered to discuss the current topic of “Digital Value Chains” – added value through digitalization in value chains.

This year’s Logistics Forum Switzerland held on November 6 for the second time in the Museum of Transport Lucerne. The focus was on the up-to-the-minute topic of “Digital Value Chains”. Digitization is on the rise, no question. New digital solutions for logistics and SCM become available almost daily. But how can your company generate competitiveness and customer benefit through these digital offers? Companies and logistics have to prove their versatility, as Carsten Vollrath, SWISS IPG PARTNERS GROUP AG, quoted in his abstract: “It is not the strongest species that survive, not the most intelligent that survives. The day started with a warm welcome by the VNL Switzerland President Prof. Dr. med. Herbert Ruile.

This was followed by exciting keynote addressed by Claudio Marconi, IKEA Supply AG and Carsten Leuters, KPMG Holding AG, on the respective topics “Integrated Supply Chain IKEA” and “Digital Value Chains – Roadmap.”

During the subsequent pitches for the Regional Logistics Prize 2018, which the clubs from detranz and VNL awarded for the second time in the context of the Logistics Forum, the participants had the chance to vote for the best pitch during the day.

After a short coffee break and informative visits to the exhibitor booths as well as various poster walls, the participants were able to split the three parallel streams into different topics. The various short presentations offered a topic for conversation at the lunch with a view of Lake Lucerne.

Following the active expert discussion on “Status of Implementation – Digital Value Chain”, the participants entered the parallel afternoon session. You learned by Thomas Heynen, AdNovum Informatik AG, that with the help of digitization even in concrete logistics work can be done more efficiently.

In the end, participants found their way back to the conference hall, where the award ceremony of the Regional Logistics Prize was met with great recognition and broad interest. Urs Giezendanner (regional developer of Regiun Surselva) won the “Carrier Surselva” project against the two co-finalists “Collectors” and “UriTicket”. All three finalists of the Regional Logistics Prize are invited to attend the next detranz Think lab in Altdorf in 2019.
