THE EDGE OF DIGITAL INNOVATION AT THE SWISS R&D CONFERENCE OF THE INITIATIVE “INDUSTRIE 2025”

The fourth R&D Conference has been taken place at the University of applied Science in Rapperswil. 28 contributions were made by 12 universities showing their latest digital innovation to the audience of industrial innovators.

Rapperswil, Switzerland, January 24. 2019: The setup of the conference reminds of a “speed dating” event. In five minute-pitches Swiss Universities presented their actual digital projects and innovations.

All regions of Switzerland, from the French, Italian and German part where present. The contributors came from the ETH and a high number of universities of applied science like the HSR, ZHAW, BFH, HSLU and others. From agile development over implementing Industrie 4.0 principles in the industry, to data science, usage of digital twins, deep learning for predictive maintenance – the audience got a high number of inspirations and know-how for their industrial innovations.

During the networking brakes the approximative 250 participants, mainly from the Swiss Industry, discussed their digital projects among experts from other industries and the representatives of the universities. “Industrie 4.0 concepts are alive and contribute to the benefit of the Swiss Industries global competitiveness” says René Brugger, President of the Swiss Technology Network and Senior Partner at IPG.

That is the reason why we maintain a strong partnership with the Initiative “Industrie 2025” in Switzerland and are part of their activities. It is our customers benefit that we play a front role in digitizing the industry”

The Initiative «Industrie 2025» is the unique platform in Switzerland to support development and deployment of Industrie 4.0 – principles into the Swiss Industry. It is carried by the associations Swiss Technology Network, asut and Swissmem. Over 40 partners, such as IPG, support and contribute to the work and build a community to share know-how and to build digital business excellence.
