In cooperation with the University St. Gallen and the Institute of Supply Chain Management, IPG Group CEO Carsten Vollrath published the new book “Service Purchasing – The Purchase and Assessment of complex service bundles”. In the book, the authors discuss critical success factors, characteristics, and models to enhance service purchasing and prepare for the dynamics of the future.
Carsten Vollrath notes: “Digitalization and Industry 4.0 will further increase the strategic importance of purchasing – provided that it actively accepts the associated transformation challenge for its own competence and organizational development. The pressure to change purchasing is already enormous, and will continue to grow through hybrid dynamic offerings from suppliers embracing hardware (physical products), technology and comprehensive service concepts. “Innovate or die” is therefore the motto for purchasing in the coming years.”
